Sara Thigpen is an award-winning Actor and Director based in New York City. Originally from NC, my current home is in Long Island City (Queens, Y'all!), where I'm shacked up with my beloved husband, Tim, and our ever-growing collection of shot glasses and cookware.
So far this year she has performed in 11 public developmental readings/workshops for new plays by Scott Sickles; Kristen Palmer (Boomerang Theatre Co.); Judith Leora, Nico Grelli, Shaun Bennett Fauntleroy (NYMadness); Dennis A. Allen (The Lark); Kathleen Warnock (TOSOS); Gina Femia (New Georges); Mrinalini Kamath, Lisa Huberman (Mission to Ditmars); and Alyson Mead (The Parsnip Ship). As an actor, she has worked repeatedly with playwrights and companies that focus on everyday people in extraordinary circumstances.
Much of this work has been seen in the best (historic) downtown theatre venues, such as Theatre for the New City, The Cherry Lane, The Connelly, The Duplex, The Kraine and Metropolitan Playhouse. As a director, in addition to new plays and classics, Sara has created broad colorful worlds in Musicals, intimate portraits in Solo Performance, and dabbled in Vaudeville.
She received her BFA in Acting/Directing from UNC-Greensboro and continues her training at ESPA-Primary Stages.
